I have been involved with dogs and horses all my life, from the mid 1950's all of my sparetime, school holidays etc. was spent at Dove Valley Poodle & Cocker kennels learning about breeding, showing, coat stripping and clipping and caring for boarders. In my 20's I had my own grooming business.
When Steve and I married we bought Abbey a super Rottweiler bitch, we went on to breed, show and judge Rotts.
We have both served on several committees and at the moment are on the Greenland dog club and the Pyrenean Sheepdog club committees.
Steve is on the judging lists of the Malamute club, the Greenland Dog club and the Norwich Terrier club.
The name Kelltara is from two dogs, Kelly a Rottweiler and Tara a Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel. Steve was bequeathed the SEACOURT name in 2009.
While at shows we had seen Alaskan Malamutes and were very impressed by them, we did a lot of research on the breed and in 1986 we had "Tasha" Seacourt Gypsy Bangle from Janetta Parkyns, Tasha has a super temperament so good with the three old Rotts. Next came "Chase" a big black & white dog and "Brett" Seacourt Springbok we were hooked on the breed and over the following years many more Mals and Greenland dogs owned jointly with Janetta, joined us, sucessfully handled by Steve.
I judged a Malamute club show and in 2002 judged the breed at Crufts.
Greenland Dogs which we own and showed remain the current breed record holders. "Corby" Alaskan Sunrise at Kelltara is the overall breed record holder. "Chaos" Seacourt Stormy Sky is the bitch breed record holder. We were very proud when "Chaos" was chosen to represent the Breed in the KC Breed Standards book. We are also the co-breeders of the current top Greenland Dog.
In 1990 we had our first Norfolk Terrier, soon followed by a Norwich Terrier, we exhibited and bred Norfolk and Norwich very sucessfully, made up and/or bred champions in both breeds. A very proud moment was when Steve handled our homebred Ch Kelltara Topsy Turvey to BOB at Crufts in 1998 under breed specialist Michael Crawley. A Topsy daughter Ch Kelltara Dolly Daydream is still the joint bitch CC record holder with 12 CC's.
In 2005 we bought our first Pyrenean Sheepdog "Rosie" Merrywood Dancing Queen at Kelltara who has done very well in the showring being the first PSD to win a puppy group and the first PSD to win a group and RBIS, next came "Bailey" Carabrae Mad As A Hatter at Kelltara who went one better by going BIS and making breed history in this Country. We also have "Kizzy" Carabrae Penelope Pitstop at Kelltara whose show career is just taking off and "Lexi" Ivydale Odette at Kelltara a youngster who is yet to make her mark. We also have been joined by "Cortex" Cortex du Pic d'Espade & "Sophie" Ivydale Suzette for Seacourt.
